So this isn’t exactly a current event, but I came across this worldwide over 1 million user-created experiment/artwork and it’s explanation, and I’m totally fascinated by what happened and how well it’s shown here… What do you think about it? https://www.newsweek.com/reddit-place-internet-experiment-579049

Honestly, I don’t know what to think. The end result certainly skews miles away from anything I would call beautiful or enjoy looking at, but that wasn’t the point. Hive mind is a scary concept and I’m glad there were positive ideas being expressed but there was plenty of ugly hate to go around, too. So I’m back to saying I just don’t know what to think!

I thought it was amazing how quickly groups communicated and worked together to accomplish their goals, but I too was disappointed at the negative messages and/or lack of maturity shown at times. I think the final process and final artwork shows that tribalism is alive and well in humanity… for better or worse. I was also reminded how much I am not an ‘average’ person. I see things so differently than so many people, and it feels a little lonely sometimes.

You’re right, it’s crazy how these things grow so quickly. I’m sure if I were in my 20s or 30s I wouldn’t find that surprising! Tribalism – for better AND worse, I guess! Good to know that you see things differently, that’s to be celebrated!

Thanks. I do think it’s important, but it’s tough sometimes to feel different. It definitely helps to find likeminded and/or similarly inclined people out there in the blogosphere. Our art/poetic synchronicity has often offered a quick moment of comfort to me when needed over the years. Sorry I’m so behind on your posts. I looked through the notifications I’ve saved and I even have one from last January! Though I’ve read several in between, of course. 😀 LOL

I’m so behind on posts and emails…please don’t worry, I understand and I’m very happy if someone goes back and comments on something from a while ago that they just now have seen.
Last January, as in 01/2021? That’s the pandemic’s fault! 😉
